How To Rank Your Clinic On Google
When someone types physical therapy near me, Google shows three map results. Those three take most of the calls.
This is how you become one of them.

01
How do I rank my clinic on Google Maps?
Claim and fully complete your Google Business Profile, pick the right primary category, and get a steady flow of reviews that mention your service and your city.
Maps ranking is driven by three things: how close you are to the searcher, how complete and active your profile is, and how much the rest of the web agrees you exist. You control two of the three.
02
What actually moves local rankings?
These are the local ranking factors you can actively improve:
- Primary category set to your real service, not a generic one
- Reviews arriving every week, not in bursts, and answered
- Service and city pages on your website that match the searches
- Your name, address, and phone identical everywhere online
- Photos and posts added regularly so the profile looks alive
03
How do I know which competitors outrank me?
Search your main service plus your city from outside your own network, and write down who shows in the map pack and the first page. Do it weekly.
Rankings change by neighborhood, so check from a few locations near your clinic, not just from your desk.
04
How do I rank a therapy or group practice on Google?
Same rules, with one difference. Group practices should rank the practice and each provider, because patients search for specialties and for people.
Give each provider a real page. Give each service its own page. One page trying to rank for everything ranks for nothing.
05
Does a niche help you rank better?
Yes. A specific service page beats a general one, because it matches what the person typed.
Pelvic floor therapy in your city is winnable. Physical therapy in your city usually is not, at least not first.
06
How do I get more Google reviews?
Ask at the moment the patient tells you they feel better, and make it one tap. Every week, not once a quarter.
A clinic that adds four reviews a month passes a clinic with a hundred old ones inside a year.
07
How long does it take to rank on Google?
Profile fixes can move map rankings in two to six weeks. Website and content work takes three to six months.
Anyone promising page one in thirty days is selling you something else.
08
Should I hire an SEO company for my practice?
Only if they can show you rankings and booked patients for practices like yours, and only if they tell you what they are changing. Ranking reports without patient numbers are a red flag.
Ask them one question. What will you do in the first thirty days, and how will I see it worked.
